[Lang. Arts] Readers Researching their Reading: Creating a Community of Inquiry

This article, written by Linda Parsons, describes her experience working with a group of 10 fourth graders to research the experiences they had with reading. Students faced challenges when working with their own experiences as the object of their research, but gained a feeling of empowerment and self-identification as researchers. The students who participated also gained experience with sharing in a group discussion that was organized differently from a classroom setting.    Read full article
